Pumpkins

We are really getting into the Halloween spirit this year. It's much more fun when you have a little one. We took Avery to a pumpkin patch where we took some fun pictures. When she gets older she'll be able to do the hay ride like all the big kids. It looked great. We decided we didn't want to pay $15 to $20 for a pumpkin so we went back into town for a much better deal and came back with "Pete the Pumpkin" pictured below.

Then, tonight we went to "Boo at the Zoo" with our friends the Bastons. They have a 10 month old who is adorable. We liked looking at all the decorations and the animals, but all the kids dressed up were hilarious. Mutant ninja turtes, Batman, Harry Potter, princesses, elephants, bees...they were all so cute! William was a lion and Avery was a baby in a "My First Halloween" outfit (We're saving her costume for this weekend :) ) More spooky pictures to come.

This weekend we went down to the beach to visit Auntie Shaunna. We had a wonderful time and got see her new house, finally! It is so beautiful. I think I will live in her master bathroom for a while :). It was really chilly down there, so we did a little shopping for Avery and got her some warmer clothes to wear. I've been trying to make the summer ones last a little longer by putting long sleeve onesies underneath, but it isn't cutting it anymore. Besides, little princesses can always use more fabulous clothes. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Happy Times/ Sad Times

This past week and weekend have been very eventful. We'll start with the happy first: Tim's sisters came into town. We haven't seen them in a while, so it was great to spend some time with them. Gabrielle is getting married next year and she was able to get some things done while she was here. It's exciting watching her plan everything. Her wedding is going to be awesome. And Avery gets to be a flower baby! Her fiancé's nephew is going to be the ring bearer. He's only a few months older than Avery. I'm sorry, but babies dressed up in wedding attire is beyond adorable.

So the sad news is that Aunt Beth lost her battle with breast cancer. It really happened very quickly and we weren't expecting it to be so soon. Mom and Dad were in Hawaii for the dental meeting when it happened, but they were able to make it back for the wake and funeral. That was probably one the hardest things to do- tell Mom they she had lost her "sister-cousin". They grew up together and were as close as close could be. Anyway, please pray for my family as they grieve.

On a happier note, Avery has started the supported sitting stage. It is so great to see someone so small sitting in a little chair. We've also started rice cereal, which she is not so keen on at the moment. She just sticks her tongue out & it all runs down her chin. We've got lots of practicing to do. 21 WEEKS

Gone Fishin'

This past weekend was Tim's birthday, so we went down to the beach to celebrate. It was such a nice weekend-cool weather, good football (Go cocks!), and fishing. Tim was invited to go sail fishing on a 54 foot boat with some colleagues while us prissy girls stayed back on dry land. They didn't catch any sailfish, but they got a couple wahoo, red snapper, sea bass, & a mako shark. Tim caught the shark-oops. We now have a huge bag of fish to cook, so I guess I need to look up recipes for wahoo. I'm not so familiar with cooking anything but tuna, salmon, & snapper. We'll let you now how it turns out. Baptism of Russell & Avery

This weekend, Avery and her little cousin Russell were baptized together in a beautiful ceremony. They both looked like little cherubs. I also think they looked like little pilgrims in their bonnets. It was so cute. They are starting to notice each other more now. Avery couldn't stop staring at him and Russell was all about giving her kisses.

The ceremony went well, but there were a few bumps in the road. A baptism in our church includes the mother, father, baby & the 2 godparents. Unfortunately, at the last minute Russell's godparents weren't able to make it. But my parents were able to step in thank goodness. And of course we were running late getting to the church. Everyone wanted to hold Avery when we got there but we didn't even have her dressed yet. We threw her outfit on and made it into the sanctuary just in time. Avery did really well during the ceremony, but little Russell wasn't a happy camper. Father thought it was funny though. He said we had just inducted the newest member of our choir to the church :)

After the baptism, my parents and Mamma Barbara gave a beautiful luncheon for them. The food was amazing and it was great for some of our friends & family to meet the babies for the first time. We really appreciated everyone coming. It really gives you the "warm fuzzies" inside to know that we are so loved :).

4 Months

We had Avery's 4 month pediatric appointment this past week. Which meant more shots :( , but we were able to see how much she's growing. She weighs a whopping 11 lb 7 oz & is 24 inches long. So that puts her in the 20th percentile for weight & 30th for height. She's still a little thing- especially compared to her cousin that was born 3 weeks early (he weighs 16 lb 9 oz at the same age!)

Congrats to little William Baston! He was baptized this weekend in a beautiful ceremony. Then we went to his luncheon where there were a ton of little baby girls around. Everyone was joking that William will have his pick of girlfriends. Already a ladies man at 9 months :). I left my camera at home, but he looked so precious in his christening gown (even though Brent did not want him wearing a "dress").

Tennis, Tennis, and More Tennis

This past weekend was Tim's tennis tournament for his mixed team. Avery and I sat in the breeze under some tents and cheered Daddy on. They played so well that they won the state title! Avery liked watching the ball go back and forth (we may have a little tennis player on our hands).

It's been a busy week for teaching. I give my first exam Tuesday so I've been working on that all week. Hopefully my students will do well. I've got a few winers this year, so we'll see. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
