Salem 3 Weeks

The little man is trucking along.  He is growing really well.  He's already up to 9 pounds 6 ounces at almost 4 weeks. We are starting to get our routine down and we'll start venturing out to more public places next week.  It's been so hot here we haven't been doing any strolls around the neighborhood.  I've yet to use my awesome double stroller...I better practice folding it and everything before I embarrass myself in a parking lot somewhere ;).  Wow, I'm kind of rambling. You can tell we aren't getting much sleep yet, but that will come.  I hope everyone is doing well!  Oh, and go Gamecocks!!!!

Swimming and Father's Day

I can't believe little Salem is already 2 weeks old.  It does go by faster with your second child! He is doing great.  We took him to his pediatrician and he is already up to 8 pounds 5 ounces and 21 1/4 inches in length.  That's the 30th percentile for weight 61st percentile for length.  We were used to the 1 percentile for Avery, so our little man seems huge! He's eating well and sleeping...some.  We've got him on a schedule so hopefully he'll start sleeping through the night by 5 weeks like Avery did.  Fingers crossed.
The past few weekends have been super hot, so we are blessed to have my parent's pool to visit.  Avery has turned into a little fish.  She loves to kick and splash.  She doesn't quite understand the closing your mouth in the water idea, but she'll catch on.
Oh, the baby's waking up. Gotta get the pics on and skedaddle.
Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful Dads in our life.  We love you!
First outing with 2 kids. Avery loves her wheeley board. Great for quick trips.
Summer and Jason visit.  Summer is due with her first in August. Yay!!

Salem Hodges is Here!

Baby Salem has arrived! He is the sweetest little man.  He was born 10 days early and is absolutely perfect.  We had a couple of scares with contractions the Saturday before, but he decided he didn't want to come on Memorial Day weekend.  When Tim and I got to the hospital Wednesday, I was already 8cm dilated.  The doctor said get her the epidural asap, they broke my water, and a short time later we met our little boy.  It was so different from the 9 hour labor with Avery.  The nurses were great.  We ended up getting to stay in the large labor and delivery room the first night because they were so swamped from the weekend.  The day they finally moved us to the postpartum  hall, they released 22 babies.  It was crazy!
We got home Friday evening and we were thrilled to be with Avery again.  She is handling having a baby brother pretty well. She hasn't been as good of a listener and the potty training is having a bit of a set back. All in all not too bad.  She loves giving baby Salem kisses on his forehead.  She plays "music" for him (bangs on the xylophone singing Twinkle, Twinkle).  It's amazing how adult acting she seems since we've been home.  She is still petite but seems huge after holding the baby.  I think the hardest thing is not being able to pick her up until next week.  I just keep telling her I have boo boos and can't pick her up right now...it's sad :(.  Everything will be back to normal/semi-normal again soon.
Happy Anniversary to my wonderful hubby! Seven years tomorrow!
