Under the Weather

Avery got her first "real" cold. She has had the sniffles a couple times before, but this was the full blown rhinovirus. We think she got it from one of the kids a The Little Gym. I remember thinking, "that kid is coughing all over the equipment, we are so going to get sick".  Less than 48 hours later, Avery was getting a stuffy nose. We were headed out of town before we knew how sick she was going to be, but we survived. Tim and I got the nasty cold as well, but we are all on the mend. It is just pitiful when a little one can't blow their nose or tell you how the feel.
The reason we were out of town was Tim's mixed tennis tournament.  It was the state championship and the competition was stiff. Although Tim won all of his matches (go hubby!), the team as a whole didn't make it to the finals. They had a great time playing and Tim didn't get sick till the end of the weekend, so he was able to enjoy playing.
I just took Avery's 16 month pics today. We are about a week late due to the cold, but I think they turned out cute. I hope everyone has a great week & wash your hands!!

Papa's 90th Birthday & Labor Day Weekend

Monday my Papa turned 90 years old! The whole family went up to visit him including Aunt Genie, Uncle Jimmy, and Jamie. We loved seeing everyone. Papa's new home is beautiful. It looks like a posh hotel rather than a retirement community. It's brand new so everything is super clean and not crowded. The staff was really sweet too. Papa looked great. He's as spunky as ever! He cracks me up.
Saturday night we went to a really good seafood restaurant that is owned by Papa's step son. I had the tuna, but I have to say Carlos' mac and cheese was to die for. It was a mix between a cheddar and an alfredo sauce. So good! Before we left, we found a beautiful park to walk down to. We met a couple with a little girl a month younger than Avery. They were really sweet and the girls were cute playing together.  Also, Mom and Dad got Tim, Avery, and me matching Lacoste shirts from their trip to Paris. So...I HAD to get our pictures made in them. We felt kinda dorky walking down the street in matching get ups, but the pictures turned out nicely.
On Labor day we got to see our cousins Natalie & Larkin and Aunt Connie. Larkin is the newest addition to the family and she is beautiful.  She has three older brothers, so she'll have lots of family looking out for her. Natalie looks amazing of course. She has this super power of always looking great even after just having a baby.  We love our cousins!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and Happy Birthday to Gabrielle!

Aunts Visit & the Zoo

School just started back so I've fallen down on my blog duties. Let me try and catch everyone up.  A few weeks ago, we got a visit from Avery's godmother, Aunt Shaunna. It was wonderful to see her. We did some furniture shopping and just spent time hanging out. Shaunna made us some awesome burgers one night. She's quite the griller. My family wanted to see her too, so we had a little Shaunna dinner at a greek restaurant. Avery was a little hyper and ran all over the place, but we had fun.
Tim's sister, Gabrielle, came to visit before her move to the big city. We celebrated her and Ben's birthdays a little early with a dinner at the Sinclair's. Avery also got to show off her new tricks to her Aunt. We're so glad we got to spend some time with them. It's sad they live so far away.
We've been taking Avery to the zoo and to the parks now that the weather has cooled off slightly. It's great to see how she reacts to all the animals. Of course, she thinks that everything is a dog, but whatever...
Aunt Katie threw an awesome Kelly's Kid party at her house the other weekend. Mom and I loved everything and had way too much fun shopping. The babies got to play together a little too. I love that we have so many little ones in our family around the same age.

Some Avery Videos

We've been trying to capture some of Avery's cute moments on video. It's really hard since she is fascinated with the video camera. She usually just freezes. Here are some of the moments we got lucky. We've got animal sounds, made up & real words, laughing, and bye-byes. Enjoy!
